The premise behind Capital City Oktoberfest is to have an event where people can gather and celebrate the city of Lincoln and the great things it has to offer within an Oktoberfest atmosphere that is as authentic in spirit as possible. Our goal is to improve upon it each year and grow it into a city staple that people throughout the region will look forward to and be excited about participating.

The last year and a half has been a difficult time for everyone with Covid-19 and how to best navigate this pandemic. After cancelling our event for 2020 we began looking forward to 2021 hoping things will have improved significantly enough that we could safely put on a full event. However it seems that won’t be the case.

Oktoberfest is not an event that lends itself well to social distancing and masks without severely compromising the experience of an event that size. With cases quickly increasing in the community we don’t want to contribute to it by risking exposure to the over 1000 attendants over our two-day event. That is why we have chosen to cancel Capital City Oktoberfest 2021…but that doesn’t mean we are disappearing until next year. 

Though we won’t have an event this year we will be making an appearance at The Happy Raven, and still be promoting all of Lincoln’s scheduled Oktoberfest events. We encourage everyone to attend and support these great local events and do so as safely as possible.

With that said, we have already begun planning for 2022. We have been in talks with some big Lincoln players who want to make sure Capital City Oktoberfest 2022 goes off in spectacular fashion. We are confident that the worst will be behind us and be able to provide an Oktoberfest celebration that we all absolutely deserve.
